DSM and orthophoto mapping are incredibly useful tools for surveying companies in view of internal progress reporting, boundary and topographic surveying, and volume calculation. When opening up new land in coastal areas, it is absolutely necessary for the surroundings to be surveyed continuously. Dredging companies spend a great deal of time and money on conducting terrestrial survey work, often on a large scale. Latest Global Positioning System Satellite Goes Live

The newest Global Positioning System replenishment satellite went into operation Tuesday night, five weeks 
after ascending to space from Cape Canaveral atop a United Launch Alliance Atlas 5 rocket.

The GPS 2F-11 navigation spacecraft was launched Oct. 31 into a circular orbit 11,000 nautical mile high 
and tilted 55 degrees to the equator.

GPS 2F-11 has assumed Plane E, Slot 2 of the network. The new bird took the place of GPS 2R-10 satellite, 
launched in 2003. The Lockheed Martin-built satellite has outlived its 7.5-year design life and will shift 
to an alternate role within the constellation for its remaining years.

The next satellite in the series, GPS 2F-12, was shipped to Cape Canaveral on Oct. 8 in preparation for 
liftoff on Feb. 3 aboard another Atlas 5.

Boeing has built a dozen Block 2F satellites with improved accuracy, additional signals, better 
anti-jamming and longer design lives for the satellites.

for users around the globe and for decades to come," said Lt. Gen. Samuel Greaves, Space and Missile 
Systems Center commander and Air Force Program Executive Officer for Space.

Trimble® TerraSync™ and GPS Pathfinder® Office Software Updated

Version 5.81 of the TerraSync software includes the following updated features and changes:

• The Integrated RTK Radio option is now available in all editions of the software, when connected to a Trimble R2 GNSS receiver.

• An issue which caused the software to crash when collecting features with a data file loaded as a background has been fixed.

Version 5.81 of the GPS Pathfinder Office software includes the following new and updated features:

• The installer now includes the Microsoft® Visual C++ redistributable as a pre-requisite. This redistributable ensures that the postprocessor corrects positions.

• The postprocessor calculates correct DOP values for files collected with the Trimble Juno® series, Trimble Nomad® series, and Trimble Yuma® tablet computer receivers.

• An issue which caused image links to be formatted incorrectly when exporting to MicroStation DGN has been fixed.
